My name is Jaime, though most folks online know me as The Eldritch Librarian.
I’m a teller of tall tales, hoarder of tabletop roleplaying books, smoker of pipes and cigars, unapologetic coffee snob, devoted admirer of dogs, occasional writer, political doom-scroller, and voracious reader. If there’s a used bookstore within fifty miles, there’s a good chance I’ll find it. If there’s a new RPG on the shelf, there’s an even better chance I’ll convince myself I need it.
I’ve been playing tabletop roleplaying games for decades and sitting behind the Game Master’s screen for most of that time. Along the way I’ve learned one lesson that outweighs all the advice about encounter balance, monster tactics, or rules mastery:
The best Game Masters are readers first.
Every great campaign borrows from somewhere. Novels teach pacing and character. History teaches conflict. Mythology teaches wonder. Horror teaches tension. Even books completely unrelated to gaming have something to offer the person trying to create memorable adventures.
That’s why I created The Eldritch Library.
